This is 3D v3.0 for riding virtual courses with a road display or Coaching Software v1.6 where you can ride in Erg mode setting power manually or using a file. You can download all the software that came with your Computrainer from the Racermate site at no charge. Certainly it is the bottom line that matters to them I've got to get out of this thread. Of course, they don't care what I think and I could very well be wrong.
I think RM's marketing would be greatly improved if they made significant ongoing investment in frequent software updates that ANYBODY could download for free to use with their hardware. However, when I buy a piece of hardware that is software driven I expect the hardware manufacturer to provide me with workable software and the same frequent updates as part of the cost of that expensive hardware. I expect that developer to support his product and that generally means frequent free updates to resolve issues and add features. I don't mind paying a software developer good money to provide me with a piece of useable software. I can tell you it looks a lot easier to create workouts in that the original version, but that is a feature that others brought to the table long before and RM should have added at least two years ago. I have no idea how stable RM1 is as I am not using it. I do know how frustrating a crash is in a long ride. You might give it another try with the update. I got an email that a new version was released a day or two ago but I have not been on the trainer for a while so I have not updated.
Did you contact Drew? I did and he discovered a bug in the auto lap feature which caused my crash and within about 10 days issued a new release which fixed that and a couple other issues that I had not noticed. I also had a crash during a long ride on PerfPro. I have never used Trainer Road but I have heard good things about it. We’ve heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the complete works of Shakespeare now, thanks to the Internet, we know that is not true.-Robert Wilensky Wow, that was sarcastic, but I have to go so I am not going to take the time to tone it down.
If you invest your money with them, you will likely regret it later when they are unable to provide you any meaningful support and eventually want to charge you to upgrade to a RM2 (scheduled for delivery in January 2012) which will be behind the competitors on the day it ships (August 2016). As far as I can tell there has been no significant hardware development by RM in years and they are totally inept as a software development company.
I think it has a 10 day free trial or some such so give it a try before you spend $200 to buy software from an inept software development company. I find the PerfPro interface to be very easy to deal with and the workouts are easy to create and edit for either course or erg sessions. I do not have dedicated trainer space so I have to take up and put down with every use. For me, I do not want to attach and remove cables from my bike.
However, if you use an ant+ cadence sensor, spin scan wont work (PerfPro will do spinscan, but you will have to use the wired cadence sensor since spinscan simply doesn't work without the wired cadence sensor for some technical reason having to do with the rate or frequency of data transfers over ant +). It's half the cost of RM1 and includes built in ant+ support. Do you use ant+ devices? Do you care about spinscan? If the answers are yes/no, then check out PerfPro ( ). If you want new software you have a few choices. It is old and tired and not very well integrated, but it works just fine. If you just want software to run the CT, you can download the original CT software from RacerMate's website for free. Today is the second day of the rest of your life if you started keeping track yesterday Open to suggestions, thoughts or insights that anyone has on this subject.
My old laptop quit so I'm now running a MacBook Pro with Parallels so I'm pretty sure that the racermate product will work but right now I've got a computrainer and no software to run it. Does anyone have any experience using this software? And, is this just an upgrade to the existing software? (called racermate and left them a message with this same question) The issue I have is that the ex took off with all the CD's (typical story) and the original software discs were in that stuff. I also saw dcrainmakers blog talking about Racermate One, which looks pretty cool. I did a quick search on here and found some information on software options for Computrainers but didn't find exactly the answers that I was looking for so I'm hoping for a little help.
